Hey there peeps! All of my studying during the summer payed off for the qualification exam! The Classical exam was beaten by a good margin, and the Modern exam was not too shabby either. Not only that, but this means I'll be able to get my Ph.D!
My classes are going alright. General Relativity is going slowly towards its goal, and the assignments are not too difficult. Quantum Field Theory is very informative, despite the adjustments I've had to make towards what I needed to study (part of it came from the first homework, which oriented me quite well.) Particle Physics is kind of unknown at this point. It looks promising. But the first homework has not been very clear at points, and it's taking a lot of pokes at the teacher to get some hints. I was able to get 2/5 of the homework done on my own, however I hit a snag later. So I made efforts to collaborate with another grad in the class, and we've had mixed success. We were able to finish some parts, but some feel like we've hit a road block with others.
But I still have a feeling that this will be a good semester, despite the annoyances. After all the hell that went down this summer, I'm glad that I've gotten some good news. And there should be more good news on the way, there has to be! I can feel it.
As Freddie Mercury once said:
"Don't stop me now!"
Stay safe everyone!
